Introduction

Hi. My name is Jess Nevins. You might know me from such books as The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana, The Encyclopedia of Pulp Heroes, and the introduction to Steampunk.

In Victoriana I wrote, at length, about penny bloods and dime novels, the 19th century predecessors to pulp magazines. People were entertained by what I wrote. But few people have ever read any bloods or dime novels, and due to both cost and accessibility few people ever will.

So I’ve decided to put a penny blood online.
